A prisoner was critically injured in a fireplace in a Karlsruhe jail. The person began the fireplace in his cell on Friday, a police spokesman mentioned. Firefighters and regulation enforcement officers extinguished the flames earlier than they may unfold to different areas of the constructing. They didn’t must evacuate the jail.

The injured man suffered extreme burns from the fireplace. Paramedics took him to a clinic. The cell block needed to be ventilated to clear it of smoke.
