From the Federal Chancellor’s perspective Friedrich Merz (CDU), Canada is sending a “sturdy sign” of strategic cooperation with the acquisition of German submarines. “Prime Minister Mark Carney has simply introduced that Canada has determined to obtain German-Norwegian submarines of the 212CD class,” stated Merz. “Forward of the NATO summit that begins tomorrow, the Canadian authorities is sending a powerful sign of transatlantic and European cooperation within the protection trade.”
The Kiel naval shipbuilder TKMS is meant to have as much as twelve Submarines ship, as Carney had beforehand introduced in Halifax. For TKMS, it’s the largest submarine order within the firm’s historical past.
