The AfD clearly missed out on getting into the respective district workplaces in two runoff elections in Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt. Within the Saale district of Saxony-Anhalt, CDU candidate Uwe Czekalla was loud preliminary result to 54.34 % of the votes. AfD candidate Uwe Arendt obtained 45.66 % of the vote.
The outcome was even clearer within the Brandenburg district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin. SPD candidate Ralf Reinhardt spoke loudly right here preliminary final result 60.6 % of the votes. Torsten Arndt from the AfD received 39.4 %. The voter turnout was reported as 46.0 %.
Incumbent Reinhardt is operating for a 3rd time period and was already forward within the first spherical of voting with 34.7 % of the vote. Arndt, who sits for the AfD within the state parliament in Potsdam, was within the vote with 30.3 % Runoff election withdrawn. The Federal Workplace for the Safety of the Structure classifies the Brandenburg AfD regional affiliation as undoubtedly right-wing extremist.
